The Magna Carta offers 6-night, all-inclusive crewed charters on the River Thames between Hampton Court and Henley-on-Thames. 
 

 
The all-inclusive, crewed, luxury English Hotel Barge Magna Carta accommodates up to 8 guests. She is approximately 120 feet in length and has two decks.

The lower deck boasts four full-width luxurious staterooms each averaging 200 square feet with private ensuite bathrooms. Three staterooms may be configured as Kings or Twins according to your preference, while the Christopher Wren has a King only. Magna Carta has the most sophisticated modern amenities, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi internet access and underfloor heating in each of the four full-width suites. Each suite has exceptionally spacious contemporary en-suite facilities and a TV with built-in DVD & CD player.
 
The upper deck comprises the main salon and dining areas with large picture windows and stylish furnishings. Outside you have the sundeck with comfortable seating and the spa pool/hot tub. There are bikes on board to take at your pleasure for rides along the tow paths.

New addition to English Hotel Barge Magna Carta

Magna Carta's New River Table

This beautiful River table is one of the latest additions to the English Hotel Barge Magna Carta for the 2019 season.


Their unique dining table was created exclusively for Magna Carta using solid oak for the table top and legs, and a blue resin to create the river effect.

More News from Magna Carta

In the off season, Magna Carta had quite a bit going on... Here's a few examples:


During 2018 we massively increased the number and efficiency of our solar panels....



Then during the winter we fitted this very high output alternator to the main engine.
Together, these upgrades mean we now run a generator for fewer than 10 hours per week..... many hotel barges run a generator 24 hours a day!!
We still have further plans to make Magna Carta even greener.

Barge MAGNA CARTA: Special Downton Abbey Cruises 2019

We are pleased to announce that the English Hotel Barge Magna Carta has added the Highclere Castle excursion to several of their cruise weeks for the 2019 barging season. This unique trip to the iconic castle and fictional site of the highly popular TV series “Downton Abbey” is a limited opportunity. The visit to Highclere replaces the standard itinerary's visit to Dorney Court.

2019 has the following dates for the Downton Abbey itinerary:

This extremely impressive Victorian castle, designed by Sir Charles Barry who was also the architect of the Houses of Parliament, sits on a 1000-acre estate and is the iconic home of the fictional Crawley family on the show. The "real" Downton Abbey has been owned by the Carnarvon family since 1679, where Lord and Lady Carnarvon still live today.

Located west of London in Berkshire, it is considered one of the finest Victorian homes still in existence, with sprawling grounds that are four times the size of New York City’s Central Park.

The Royal Treatment - Our Most Regal Cruise


In celebration of the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle, the 8-passenger, English Hotel Barge Magna Carta is launching a new and highly exclusive "Royal Cruise” along the River Thames.  This new itinerary, created through a special arrangement with members of several historic households, gives guests the "royal treatment," with private, guided tours of fabulous castles and stately homes, as well as onboard luxuries and gourmet meals "fit for a king.” Among itinerary highlights, the vessel moors beneath Windsor Castle and guests enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour led by a serving Military Knight that includes the site of the wedding, St Georges Chapel.

Downton Abbey & The Home of the Crown

The "Royal Cruise" provides guests an incredible opportunity to stand on some of the most iconic grounds where kings, dukes and earls once walked, in the company of actual descendants of these royal lineages. Thanks to the wedding, Windsor Castle looms large on the itinerary, but it is just one of the many sites and attractions enjoyed by guests as they cruise one of the most idyllic stretches of the River Thames.

Throughout the cruise, the legendary beauty of the English countryside is on full display, populated by royal palaces, majestic homes, and sites steeped in British history.  Among these is Highclere Castle, home of the Earl of Carnarvon and the "real" Downton Abbey, where guests will be given exclusive access to the house and grounds in the company of members of the household. Guests also visit Stonor Park, one of the oldest, and still inhabited, stately homes, where the Honorable William Stonor, son of the present Baron Camoys and heir to the title, rewards them with a private tour.
