Over the last nine months, Enchanté has been converted from a large Dutch barge carrying grain, into a luxurious floating hotel. During the conversion process, she even had a large mid section of the hull removed so that she will be able to fit into the smaller locks on the Canal du Midi. For the last few weeks, Enchanté has been on the long journey south from the boatyard in Amsterdam where she has been completely rebuilt, to her eventual home in the south of France. Enchanté is the latest barge to join the luxury barge charter fleet and she will begin cruising on the Canal du Midi in August 2009.She is currently travelling down the River Rhone and aims to arrive at her final destination of Capestang in the Midi later this week, where the extensive programme of fitting out will be completed.
When finished, Enchanté will be a state-of-the-art hotel barge built to the highest standards of elegance and comfort, featuring exotic hardwoods and elegant furnishings.
There will be very comfortable accommodation for up to eight passengers in four double-bedded air-conditioned cabins, each with a lavish ensuite bathroom.
Enchanté's other facilities will include a spacious sundeck with comfortable loungers, al fresco dining area, hot tub, TV, DVD player and, of course, internet connection.
Be assured that Enchanté will present delicious gourmet meals expertly prepared by the on board chef and enhanced by excellent regional wines and an open bar.
Passengers on Enchanté will have a choice of two specially designed cruise itineraries that will highlight the most delightful parts of the Languedoc, Camargue and Midi regions of Southern France.
